First Impressions of James Gunn’s Superman Are Through the Roof

Okay. Breathe. Yes, the early reactions to the first 30 minutes of James Gunn's Superman are glowing. Yes, people in Manila got to see a sneak peek, and they're calling it beautiful, epic, stunning, comic book magic brought to life. And yes, they're saying you have to see it in IMAX.

But let's all collectively remember: they only saw half an hour. Not the whole movie. Not the plot arcs, emotional payoffs, or third-act battles. Just a preview. A very pretty, carefully selected one. So before we start declaring it the best superhero movie of all time, maybe let's wait for the rest of the cape to drop.

That said… I've got a good feeling about this. A really good feeling. Every single trailer has looked like the Superman movie I've been dreaming of since I was a kid - bright, full of heart, hopeful, with soaring action and actual joy. Gunn's whole vibe screams "hope," and I trust him completely with this character.

So while I'm keeping my hype levels in check for now, don't be surprised if I'm first in line on July 11, ready to sob into my popcorn the moment Clark Kent takes flight.
